Description
The overall dimensions of the Rooster Hut are ten feet long, four feet wide and four feet tall (at the top of the henhouse). The henhouse is 4 feet wide, 3 feet long and 3 1/2 feet tall. It contains three nesting boxes on one side of the henhouse, an extra-large cleanout door on the other side and two roosts inside. It is designed for six hens.
Pneumatic wheels/tires on the "heavy" end and wheelbarrow-type handles on the "light" end make moving the 260 pound coop easy. Metal roofing both reflects the sun in the heat of summer and allows maximum ventilation without causing a draft all year around. The Rooster Hut comes with an electrical outlet inside the henhouse for supplemental light during the winter months or a lamp to brooder baby chicks. (A brooder kit can be added to your Assembly Kit for only $30.00.)
The Rooster Hut is available in
four Assembly Kits.

Cities all across the country are changing their policies concerning backyard poultry. [Click here to learn about your codes and ordinances.] As a result, backyard chicken coops are springing up everywhere. People have re-discovered the age-old art of farming in their own backyards. And chickens are an easy way to get started. Rooster Hill Farms is dedicated to helping you get your backyard ready for hens. Caring for hens in your backyard is much easier than you may think. And rewarding too!
Did you know that chickens are easy to train and make great pets? Check out some of our videos. There's a difference between livestock and pets. Livestock don't have names! Many people quickly become attached to the hens living in their backyard coops. WARNING: Chickens with names don't taste very good.
Keeping backyard chickens can also help teach your children about the responsibilities of caring for animals. It costs very little to keep a small flock of backyard chickens. Interesting fact: As a rule of thumb, hens that lay brown eggs are far less flighty than hens that lay white eggs. And, they're easier to train. The color of egg a hen will lay matches the color of her earlobe.
Chickens are not as noisy as people think. Many people have learned that their neighbors have been keeping small flocks in their backyard coops for years without anyone knowing about them. Roosters, on the other hand, are very noisy. And they get very agressive. Most city ordances do not allow people to keep roosters in their backyard coops.
Another common misconception is that backyard chickens leave a stinky smelly mess. While it is true that backyard chickens do leave manure, those droppings are nitrogen-rich fertilizers. And, when handled properly, the leave very little or no foul smells. So, backyard chickens, kept in well-maintained backyard coops do not present a nuisance at all.
The internet is chalked full of information about keeping chickens in your backyard. Check them out for more information on backyard chickens and backyard coops.
