Randy and Cynthia Klocke are the proud owners of two small farms in Enochville, a small community in southern Rowan County, North Carolina. They purchased their first farm about a quarter mile from their home in June 2007. In August 2008 they purchased a second farm just around the corner.
Today Rooster Hill Farms is home to a growing flock of Golden Comet hens, a handfull of goats, a donkey, and turkey named Boji.
Randy grew up on a farm in Audubon County, Iowa. His parents, now retired reside in Carroll, Iowa. Two of his brothers also reside in Carroll and another in a small town near Des Moines. It was on that farm in Iowa that Randy first learned about farming. After four years in the U.S. Army he finished his education (Th.B., M.Div. & Ph.D. candidate) and served as pastor for three churches in North Carolina. During that time he also took a position as adjunct professor at a local college. In 2005, at the request of his pastor, Randy left the college to establish a K-12 school (NorthGate Academy) in Salisbury, North Carolina. He served as headmaster there until 2009.
Today he enjoys spending time at the farms and operating the businesses and companies he and Cynthia started.
Cynthia grew up in Lucama, NC and moved with her family at age 18 to Concord, NC where she started a career in medicine. In 1989 she contracted lyme disease (from a tick bite) which left her disabled.
Today she enjoys life on the farms and helps as much as she is able.
